G water pump leak

It's a G. If the seal in the water pump goes bad, will water leak into the crank case? It's not leaking out the weep hole, and the heads are not cracked. Or would the shaft in the water pump be a problem?

If the weep hole is open there should be a sign of leakage there, before coolant shows up in the crankcase.

I have a GVI that leaked from water pump into crankcase. Due to years of crud, I could not get weep hole open from the exterior. I had to remove and reseal water pump. I confirmed the leak by removing oil pan. Just filling radiator would then cause a drip that was noticeable coming from the water pump.

Well, shouldn't have said head wasn't cracked. It has one newer head on it that I thought was the culprit when this started. Spent an hour with a drill and wire wheel polishing the inside up. This head looks to have been repaired before. It looks like it was welded in both chambers down by the valves. One side started leaking. At first I thought I was looking at casting stuff, but I have 4 other heads to compare it too and all of them are machined out without anything ugly like this. Don't know how well it can be seen, but crack is inside the silver circled area. So now on to finding a new head.

Pressure testing heads is the easiest way to know if they leak. Got a casting number? I might have a head.

Ge30n is the one that would match the original, but someone put a 10a4205 on which is the leaker. Don't know original story, but
I guess either one would work.
