Tell me about the M5. Found one pretty close. Hasnt ran in years the add says but engine is free said oil looked good and the radiator is full of coolant. Tires are shot. Are the good tractors? Looking for something to pull a square baler and use as a hay tractor. I know nothing about Minneapolis Moline tractors

I just got my first MM M5 a couple years ago. thinking 1961-1963. It has a lot of power. I had a hammer rear mounted mower on a 5000 Ford. It really worked the Ford. Put it on the M 5. DIDN'T EVEN KNOW IT WAS BACK THERE.

Built 60-63, Same engine as 5-Star, M-602, M-670, 336 CU IN. 4 cyl. 5 speed tranny w/Ampli-Torq. Made as Gas, LP, LaNovia (sp) Diesel. It replaced the 5-Star and was replaced by the M-602. 15.5/38 tires. Some info available on tractor data. I think I have 3 M-5 LPs and a Diesel. 2 M-602-LPs, low band M-670-LP. I know of a M-5 for sale in Anson, Texas.

They are good tractors. I used one for cutting hay and square baling for a while. Ended up putting a loader on it as I had to replace my old one. I would get it running and give the water pump a shot of grease or two. Make sure the small weep hole underneath the water pump is open. If it gets plugged with too much grease and dirt they can leak coolant into the engine. Two different hydraulic pumps were used on them. The power steering can be a little touchy to get to work right but I would buy another M5 in a heartbeat.
