Well I joined the club

Old Molines kind of fascinate me. Hope this doesn't get as bad as my Oliver addiction. I think a muffler is in short order. Are the repro any good? Any other suggestions?

Its appears to be a 49.. Seems to have a miss at higher rpm and throttle isnt very responsive. Steering is very hard too. Haven't greased or checked level yet. Thank you.
Also the top tank of the radiator gets hot pretty quick. Going have to find some guages.

FYI If you want to restore your 49 correct you should note the 49 decals are only used on the 49's
and some early 50's see this sample on a 49 R

We'll let the Moline slide as an AGCO relative, but if you buy a Massey, we might have to disown you. LOL

If you post the serial number, on the right side of the transmission and the engine number we can tell you the year of each

Well my first tractor was a fergy and I still have it. I guess I do have a parts Massey. I needed the rear tires for my 60.

I will have to get some pics. My friend and I checked the trans but not the engine. Both have paint on them.

Do the radiator tops normally get hot? Also cylinders look like they may have been hot. I will get some pics later.

First 3 digits of serial # indicate tractor or engine model

Next 2 digits -- 49--indicate 1949 model year. These 2 digits were only used in 48,49,and 50

Previous years used a 6 digit number, later years used 3 digit model indicator + 5 digit sequence number

Interesting and good info. Thank you.

Check out the Pete Little mufflers. They are a quality part and reduce engine noise to a pleasant level. The others I have tried are little more than a straight pipe.
