MM jet star two

Just picked up jet star two. Was this positive ground from factory? Still has generator on it. What is easy way to tell if it is still positive ground? Like to know before hook up wrong and cause problems.

Yes, was born with positive ground

Several clues as to what it is now:
1. Check battery cables. Positive post should have larger clamp than negative

2. Check the coil. With positive ground, + on coil goes to side of distributor, with negative ground negative post on coil goes to side of distributor.

3. Connect battery. Turn on lights and ignition. If ammeter swings negative polarity is correct. If ammeter swings positive battery is reversed.

If properly configured, all three of the above should match.

If it has set for awhile polarize the generator before starting. Connect battery, leave switch off, momentarily jumper from hot battery source to Armature post on generator. A convenient access is often from BAT to ARM on regulator. ARM should be on bottom of regulator

My gas and diesel Jet 2 positive ground. All MM were positive until alternators in 1966.
