black paint on 302

I'm in the process of restoring a 302 super. Anyone know if the black paint on the dash panel and headlight trim panels were a gloss black or a flat black when there were new?

Mohr's in Iowa seem to have Flat blck on thier restored tractors. I used flat on my M-602 and like it. Makes the gauges stand out more> Cleddy

Original color in G1000. I would say not flat but with bit of gloss.

I guess it is called Satin or Semi-Gloss on the can. It does have some shine to it and I am a big fan of a little shine. Cleddy

Thanks for the reply. The satin black on the dash makes sense I know the trim around the ignition switch is satin also. What do you think about the trim around the headlights I have only seen faded black.

We have a Early U-302 and a Super U-302 tractors. The Early U-302 came with Perforated carbon steel head light trim that was black but got rusty over time. The Super U-302 had Satin Black Sheet metal panel with a decal on the one without the light hole. I had access to a metal Fab company and they cut out some Stainless Steel Trim panels of Perforated and some other decorative pattern and I am going to leave them shinny & dress up the fenders a little??? These are both working tractors so not trying to make look ORIGINAL at the moment? Cleddy
