UTS gas engine rebuild

What other engines used the 4 1/4 bore like the 283. I'm needing some oversize pistons for mine. Have any of you folks done that and what machining was involved? .020 over is what I need for pistons.
Thanks.

Dont know what youre gonna be able to find that piston new unless some one has some NOS sitting around
and even at that rings might be a big question mark. [email protected] for pistons. Charlie Biler, 724-
628-7310 or Wendel Everett 330-556-1452 for rings. Welters in Missouri is a good resource for Moline parts,
417-498-6496. Finally got my UB engine built this year. Went back together with 4-3/4 M&W pistons, new
bearings, rings, valves and springs, valve guides and all the machine work for 2500. That was me actually
putting the engine back together. Used all the parts people listed above to get it done. I owe them a big thank
you. Good luck. DP

New overbore pistons for a 283 are not currently being produced. Only hope on new is to find something old stock. GVI and G900 gas/LP were 425 ci, 4.25" bore, same story of new pistons not being produced. The most common fix on a U is a set of later 336 ci blocks and pistons with some thicker base gaskets. These would be a direct bolt on replacement with new pistons being readily available in multiple over bores. And a U will really like the extra displacement. I do believe I have a used set of 283 pistons. I think they are .020 or .040 oversized. I would have to look. Can send me an email and I can check. I would have 336 jugs also if you wanted to go that route. As mentioned above by Dave P, my email is [email protected].

When I restored my antique truck the
machinist got made to order pistons from
Egge Machine. You can look them up online
if need be.
