Does anybody have any tips for fixing an Eaton hydraulic pump that has begun to ooze oil between the sections while sitting? This is the rotor style pump.

There is a large O ring in between the sections I believe.

I was hoping for something in there. I was afraid it was just two precision surfaces clamped together originally. If it is just an o-ring,
my local hydraulic shop may be able to help.

I think the original is actually a square edge "gasket" / O ring. I believe you can get by using an O ring if it is fitted properly without too much protrusion or it could cause binding on the halves of the pump. A hydraulic shop should be able to fit it properly for you. I can get you a part number if you need it.

Thanks for replying again Alan.

It does look like a square o-ring on the breakdown. I have replaced the square o-ring in the adapter flange with a common round o-ring
before on my (Dad's) ZB. In fact, The common 0-ring has lasted far longer than the last OEM replacement I put in there. (It does have to fit
snugly in the outer diameter of the groove. The last OEM O-ring fit snugly on the ID, and I guess it soon failed from having to stretch to
the O.D. every time it got under pressure.

Right now, since the swivel adapter in the lower port is staying wet, I am hoping I can get by just replacing it. The hose is already new. I
may still have to go inside the pump.
