Does anyone have any information and/or documentation on MM 335 Specials?

The b/w sales literature has no form # or date code but it came with the dealer order guide dated 11/1/60. Serial number lists are wrong. The Specials were all built in 1960 but a few of them didn't actually ship until January 1961. There were 2 batches of 50. The first batch was built October/November 1960 and the second batch was built December 1960.

Interesting. The majority of them were probably not sold until 1961.

They were all built as Utility models in '60 and '61. Fifty units were built in both years. 100 units total. There was nothing different about them from earlier 335s other than the "Special" decal under the 335 decal and they were painted two tone like the 4 Stars.

The story I was told indicated the dealers in the northeaster part of the country wanted something smaller than the Jet Stars to sale to vineyard and orchard farms. So MM built two runs of the 335 utilities.

I don't have a picture of ours on this compute or would post it.

Does it have a date on it? Or any specs like RPM & weight?
I am wondering if they were made in both 1960 and 1961 or only in 1961.

Interesting topic. Like Duane, I have never heard of a 335 Special. Also didn't realize 335's were still being produced in 1961 so checked my serial number book and found the following: 1960- 0 universals, 50 utilities, 150 industrial. 1961- 0 universals,50 utilities, 0 industrial.

Hi All,

335 Special? I've not heard/seen of such a thing.
Please if anyone has more information on these, please let me/us know what was different about these from a 335 row-crop , utility, or industrial.

Today's Featured Article - Restoration Story: Fordson Major - by Anthony West. George bought his Fordson Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for 200.00 (UK). There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard. From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing. ... [Read Article]
