My UB runs great on propane but is hard to start. Any ideas on what I can check to make it easier to get going? Thanks.

Could be a fuel problem could be an ignition problem.

Here's a couple of quick checks on ignition side.

1. Be sure battery is well charged, and that battery cables and wiring are in good condition. Check for good clean tight connections on both ends of both battery cables. If any doubt replace cables.

2. Is it positive or negative ground? Check the wire from coil to side of distributor. If positive ground the + post on coil goes to side of distributor. If negative ground the - post to distributor. I have 2 MM and have been around several others and I've found several where it did make a difference which way it was connected.

3. Fold a dollar bill and run through closed points, check points gap and condition of points. Check for rust and corrosion in the recessed connection at top center of coil

4. Check for excess play in distributor shaft.

5. Check plugs, plug wires, distributor cap and rotor

6. With switch on, engine not running you should have battery voltage at input to coil. Output should be battery voltage with points open, near zero with points closed.

7. UB came from the factory with 12 volt system. Make sure your coil is a direct 12 volt (3 ohms across + and - posts of coil) and there are no external resistors added
