Keep blowing o-ring in RTU hydraulic pump

The square cut o-ring keeps blowing out in the pump of my R. Fluid from the resovoir ends up draining into the crankcase! This is the 3rd time it has happened in the past couple years. I have tried the Agco replacements twice and used a viton one from McMaster car last spring. Using universal tractor fluid. Can anyone give me an idea on what I need to do to stop this. Last thing I want is to replace bearings!

Seems to me that only happens when I accidently hold the lever too long and trigger the pressure lief. I've had that happen on Rs, Zs, and Us

I cant remember the exact size I used but it was a regular O ring in place of the square edged gasket. I did that in 1986 and it has been there ever since. Also used regular O rings on the hydraulic reservoir flange (2 lines to the back) When you get one just get it so it is just a smidge over the gasket surface. If it is too big you might crack or warp the triangle flange. Agco and rubber products dont have a great history.

This may be what is happening. There was a couple of times that I remember the lever not kicking out after the cultivator lowered and I had to do it manually.

That does happen. I usually had mine at about 1/3 to 1/2 throttle when I used the hydraulic. Too less rpm the lever didnt release, and too high of rpm I had a hard time getting it in and out to raise and lower it.
