All the old guys surely someone knows the answer. I am tired of buying these junkie after market tachs that don't work was going to buy a stewart warner and they make them in .5 to 1 ratio and 1 to 1 ratio. Thus my question does the cam turn the same rpm as the motor or does it turn 2 times the rpm of the motor, as the tach drives off the camshaft. Can any of you oldtimers answer this question PLEASE. Thanks

I believe tach turns 2:1 from spinning them with a drill. It's been a while since I have had one on a drill to check it.

Any 4 cycle engine, the cam does not turn the same RPM as the crank, nor dose it turn twice as fast. The cam turns one half the speed as the crank.

So it would be .5 to 1 ratio thanks very much.
