I have a 1952 M M UTE I would like to replace the heavy rear wheel cast iron hubs with hubs that will accommodate 9 hole pressed steel centers. Axel size is 3" dia.

3 inch very difficult to find. I use
3 1/8. Split a piece of exhaust
pipe. Cut a gap for keyway and use
as a shim . Will tighten down good
and tight. I use this on pulling
tractors with no issues.

I used a set off an Oliver I think 880? They are 2 15/16 but with just alittle grinding they work good. I used to use the JD 3 1/8 but couldnt keep them tight enough and I broke 1. Or go to Capbrosmotorsports.com they make 3 hubs.

Thanks That sound like a reasonable fix. Would you have any idea what brand tractors would have the 3 1/8 hub? Ed 719 783-3339

I believe the JD 4010 has 3 1/8 axles but the key is wider. I had a machine shop cut down the key to fit my axle. I put them on a M5.

Also, another way to go is welters. They take the factory hubs
and turn them down to 9 bolt size. I have a set and they are
great
