TC/MM oil filters.

Some oil filter options have dried up for TC/MM engines.
Just a short snippet of what I know so far.
Fleetguard LF-584's need some help to correctly fit on the 11/16 oil filter stem.
I also found the Henry Leasing FE5905 filter is quite close but may need some "adjustments" to fit some filter housings correctly depending on which nut holds the filter housing down.
The TC/MM 11/16" stem is what gets us in trouble.
Perhaps you have a 1/2" stem on your MM.
Hah! I'd like to know that! And yet I'd like to know.

NOT to promote my own madness/thread but for a small amount of info on oil filters for my 21-32 see posts 915, 916, 919, 920 & 924 starting on page 46 here.: https://www.smokstak.com/forum/threads/twin-city-small-tractors-on-a-whim.180290/page-46
I try to share info as I learn more.

Crap, there wasnt much real info shared in that last post was there? A bit more is elsewhere here.
Lets look at the Henry KE-5905 ($35 bucks for me) and Fleet Guard LF-584 ($13 bucks) for a moment.
New filters. Very available.
1. Not bad. The tall nut. Perhaps a lock washer under the nut on the bottom of the stem would raise the filter a bit to suit this tall nut better.
Shown at the depth AS IF the housing were installed.
2. Felt-stack type nut. Wait. It seems a certain 1950 UTS has a similar short nut. Oh oh!
Please dont toss your filter element in and hope itll do its job.
This is a waste of an oil filter in my opinion with the gap. Pay attention.
You MM guys should also know what a felt-stack filter looks like.??? Maybe not.
I have one. Still in a 1930 KT filter housing. Cool.
Remember, the KT and MT were the older brothers to the MM U.
3. Big filters. Quite close to the size of original filter elements.
Was/is there enough room to pass oil around the outside of the filter? Small space.
4. Little fart. The IH Fleet Guard LF-584. We can see the top neck Im holding upside-down in the pic has been size-modified to fit the TC/MM 11/16 oil filter stems.
The bottom neck is fine on both filters.
5. Another option. The Henry KE5905 may want you to downsize the hole in the top neck if you have the short nut. Tin snips and a clamp.
The LF-584 IH filter top neck needs to be enlarged to fit the 11/16 stem then a piece of 3/4 heater hose and a clamp to seal and hold it in place.
A socket and a hammer to drive the top neck down and around the TC/MM stem.
I had to clean up the threads on the stem I used for testing.

Lets modify another IH/Farmall oil filter to suit Twin City/Minneapolis-Moline oil filter stems and bases! The Wix 51172/NAPA 1172 was it this time.
The shorter IH/Farmall filter. $13.49 at the store.
A non TC/MM friend asked me Why? as he's seen some of my posts. Well, thats a story.
I respect anyone that has a barrel-full of KE5905 oil filters that actually fit correctly.
Do they really fit? GB/anyone? Can any light be shown on this?
I dont have a stash and do not like filters that dont fit like theyre supposed to with minimal or no leakage of oil that should go THRU the filter instead of bypassing around the ends.
Jack Sparrow (Capt). Savvy? :)
This time I used a 7/8, 12 point to gently break thru the 1172 using a felt-stack stem and then finished with the solid stem and a 7/8, 6 point socket as its deeper.
Think me a dumb-dumb if you will but I do wish to help as it helps me also.
I now have four oil filters and ways to modify them so they do their job as intended on Twin City/Minneapolis-Moline engines.
It seems Ive made my own stash?
This one is a messy little/short filter with a paper gasket crimped into the top dome.
That top dome will turn on you and the paper gasket is firmly entrenched/crimped in the top of the dome.
Wads of paper to clean up.
Cleaned out what I could and it turned out pretty good. No paper/crud on the inside to go to the bearings.
The hose and clamp is a suggestion to hold it down. Where it should be.
Ooh. A Huber friend has a couple more filter numbers for me to try and fit to TC/MM housings.

The work you do is amazing. Its hard to believe that youre nocturnal let alone a recluse. I wish I had a TC just so I could understand what you were up to and join in this anticlimactic discussion. ;)

Funny you mention the emoji. Looks good as is!
You have me figured out db.
Stop in and I'll let you crank start the #2 production 21-32. Hehehe.
You should crank this big sweetheart.
Anticlimactic is right but I haven't been thrown out yet!
EDIT: My work sure isn't amazing. It's a means to an end (oil filters). But thanks just the same!
My original intention of writing is lost but thank you gentlemen for the views.
db, I have friends that could help you...
Don't get me started about the Pete Little bullet style mufflers! Love at first sound.
Haha! NOW I remember! I'm a Minnesota hill billy fussing with it.
