An older gentleman needs to replace the gasket under the block. Are the pistons installed with the block? Or can he leave them attached and install the block over them like on a snowmobile or motorcycle. Thanks
 
probably could but be a pain. i would pull pistons, then the block. then dont have to worry about pistons flopping around and getting damaged.
 
It can be done. Little bit of a bugger starting rings but the bottoms of the bores have a taper which helps. Takes two people and some screwdrivers to help push the rings in. Do it so one piston is up and one down so you only have to line up one at a time.
 
Just did a rings in six cylinder.. Pull blocks and use split ring compressor or big hose clamps. Takes time and patience.
