At least by the time the M670s got here MM created an easier way. At the right rear corner of the hydraulic box there is a drain plug. The M670s came with a short nipple in the case and a tee on the nipple one side of the tee pointing down was a plug for a drain and the other side of the tee was about a 6 inch pipe pointing up. At the top of the pipe was a cap with a dipstick. I have modified a couple of M5s to this configuration. Just eyeball the level in the pipe and the top of the hydraulic case. If you add a 45 degree street ell to the drain side you can get the drained oil away from the tractor better. All three quarter inch pipe works for this.
