No start, MM602

Hello I am new to this forum. I recently purchased an old m602 that will not start. Fuel is making it to the injectors and even at the exit flow. However there is no fire when I turn the engine over. Starter fluid works when I spray it into the air intake. I also cannot figure out where the shut-off is. There is no shut off mechanism on the injector pump. So, fuel at the injectors but no fire. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried towing to bring more fuel to injectors.(More cranking) Might be not getting all air out. Make sure return line. not
plugged. Should have steady flow to pump.

Do you have white smoke at exhaust? No smoke means fuel is NOT getting through the injectors. If I recall the fuel shutoff is with the throttle lever, make sure it's
opened 1/2 or more to start engine, throttle all the way forward is engine off, no fuel position.

No smoke at all. We have kept the engine running with starting fluid but don't want to do that too much. We have run it on starting fluid for about 30 seconds. Again, we have cracked the fuel lines at all 4 injectors and the fuel bypass lines. Fuel is reaching each of these points but no fire in the cylinders.

Has the injection pump been off of the engine? It seems that if you are getting fuel to the injectors that it is likely a timing issue. Make sure that the timing marks on the pump are aligned when No.1 is nearly to TDC on the compression stroke. Check your manual for the correct timing BTDC.

Thanks SW. Yes, the injector pump was rebuilt and reinstalled. We did take care to follow the manual for timing at both the flywheel (for TDC) and on the pump. Seems like we did this correctly.

If the flywheel has been off the crank, it could be installed 180 degrees off.

Thanks fellas. We timed the flywheel at 10 degrees (per manual). We look further into this. I guess the goal is TDC on the #1 cylinder.

Remove front valve cover. Watch for #1 intake to close. Rotate motor over 1/2 turn. That is TDC. Marks on flywheel and line in pump
should line up.
