Which manuals do I need for my new Jet Star?

I understand that there are elements of the Jet Star which are common to previous models, and/or subsequent models, and the necessary manuals may not be named as "Jet Star".
So which manuals do I need to acquire to cover engine, transmission hydraulics, etc.?

For starters get:

Owner-Operator Manual covers 4 Star and Jet Star

Parts manual, also called Repair Catalog also covers 4 Star and Jet Star

I&T Repair manual MM-201 this covers several MM model series

Do an internet search for them and shop around as price and condition will vary

What year? Serial# will pin it down. Prices on eBay are all over the map, Jensales reprints are spendy.

There is no manual for 1963 Jetstar 2 only supplements. Basic Jetstar is same except for color and few cosmetics.

At the auction it was listed as a 1963 Jet Star 2. But the serial number is 16601066. According to Tractor Data that makes it a 1962 Jet Star, and not a Jet Star 2.

Are you sure on the serial number?

I looked for serial # 16601066 and my list and Tractor Data both show it as a 1960 4Star.

4Star and Jet Star were the same basic tractor. 4Star was the row crop version and Jet Star was utility version.

Can you post a picture?

On MM's the first 3 digits indicate the model family. 166 is 4Ster, Jet Star would be 165.
Numbers are often hard to read. If it were 16501066 my chart shows it would be a 1961 Jet Star

Available manuals will probably be the same for either one

1961 Jet Star. There are several manuals on eBay right now for less than $15 a pop. Repair Catalog (parts book) R-2013. Operators Manual S-258. Repair manual published by I & T is MM-10 or MM-14. These numbers are printed on the cover so double check. Good hunting.
