MM G1355 LP Starting for a newbie

Inherited a 1355 propane model with a cab. Has not been started in a while but it is stored in barn & is in good condition. Not familiar with propane tractors.

The tank is low , is there a inlet port for a portable lp tank?

Any starting tips will be appreciated.

Also, what is the shift pattern?

With my LP MM tractors look around near the tank valves and copper lines for a Tee with one leg capped off. That will be your access to hook a portable tank to it. If you cannot find anything you could open the fuel line anywhere between the tank and inlet filter and with enough adapters connect a portable tank. You only need vapors to start it no liquid.

Looks to be in nice shape. The shift pattern is a double "H" and should be on the wood grain dash decal. It's pretty small letters. Would you share the serial numbers from the plate at the base of the dash near the clutch? I'm trying to document how many G1355 LP were produced since factory records were not accurate.

I reside in Georgia and will be back to Kansas, where the tractor resides, at the end of the month. I will get the serial number then. I have the engine code 45102130.

Congratulations on your new acquisition On the left side of the tank there is the liquid fill valve the large one and a vapor return valve. They are used for filling the tank. Just under that there is a small brass valve. Crack that open a turn or so, if there is a lot of pressure that escapes, you should have enough to start the tractor and not have to mess with a portable. To start you need to have a good battery charged up. First go in the cab and open the throttle wide open, then go out and on the left top of the tank there are two valves with a hand wheel on them at the base they are marked liquid and vapor, open the vapor slowly as there is a check vale inside the valve so gas doesn't, escape too fast while you are up there look at the fuel gauge if it is working and accurate and shows 5 percent or more you are good for some running time. Then go to the right side of the tractor and just behind the carburetor you will see a round unit which is the vaporizer regulator on the side in the middle there will be a button, some tractors are equipped with a solenoid at this point with a push button somewhere on the dash, but never the less there will be a button outside the solenoid. push this button for a second or so you will hear gas flowing through the carburetor and possibly through the air cleaner. (If the throttle is not wide open gas cannot flow into the intake manifold and will all go out the air cleaner). Then go back in the cab close the throttle all the way closed and then just crack it open slightly. Hit the switch, starter is on the switch, and good luck.

Does the model G have similar regulator priming button?

Shinnery is correct, look for the Tee, or hook into the line that goes out of the lp filter to the regulator. The filter should be on the clutch pedal side of the engine . Lot of good information on this site. Just ask.

No that is an Ensign system. On that system there is a choke wire running to the carburetor. Ensign says It is NOT a choke but a starting circuit. And that it is used all the way on (out) or all the way off (in). How ever having said that I have a couple of tractors that start the best with the knob part way out. Go figure!
