I note there is a strong resemblance between the Allis Chalmers CA transmission and Those used in the MM BF, BG, etc. Does anybody know for sure if the internals are the same?

I do not mean to hijack the thread but I would like a yes or no answer to the question if possible for now. Might need to know later on as my dad had an AC B and a MM BF that I am working on.
Thanks in advance.

NOT the same. The Avery/General transaxle is a more squarish affair than the Allis unit. The optional PTO assemblies will not interchange and I doubt any internal parts will either.
I once tried replacing a bad ring and pinion out of a Gibson tractor (a way too common occurrence) with a similar pair out of a "B", but it wouldnt work (too small). A R&P set of gears out of a B.F. Avery however, fit perfectly!

For comparison, a few (this morning) pictures out of a northern Michigan junk yard:

That is what I needed to know. I am going to have to go inside a BG trasmission soon and I was wondering if an Allis would be a source for parts.

Thank you!

Those transmissions were built by Clark Equipment, They made several variations of 3 and 4 speed models. AC b c ca, Cockshutt 20, MM v bf bg, Oliver super 44 440, Cletrack hg and oc3 are several examples.

warbaby. I am curious where the northern Michigan junkyard is at, I live in northern Michigan and occasionally could use some parts. Thanks

I shoulda said a "private" junkyard- that is why everything in there is fairly complete! You gotta be family or friend just to get in.

Have you ever been to Wakeley's, just east of Grayling (on Whirlpool Road, just north of the AuSable River)? Lots of old iron scattered among the jack pines there. I've bought a few tractors, old engines and parts there over the years.

No, Wakeleys Auto Salvage is a different yard entirely than the one pictured here. Friendly people, laid back atmosphere- even the dogs are nice!
