MM Power Unit

Looking at a MM Power Unit. Tag info says 8x9 4cyl Model:11E Ser No. 32800561. The model number looks strange as there is a diagonal line from the bottom of the first 1 up to the top of the second 1 making it look like a backwards N. It almost looks like it should be "ME" not 11E. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

8 x 9 4 cylinder is possibly an MEU as listed in The History of Minneapolis-Moline. It would be 1810 cu. in.,650 RPM and 177 HP. Shows weight of complete unit at over 6500 lbs.!! Looks like quite a horse in the picture. Not listed in the serial number book that I have but the copy of the literature shows August, 1943 so probably 1940's or before.

Would that be a derivative or descendant of the old Twin City tractor engines?
