Looking for anyway to assemble the clutch without a alignment tool if its possible? Also wondering where to look for adjustment of the clutch brake as it dont matter how long I have the pedal pushed in it still clashes gears. Figured now was the time to do all this since I had to split it for the lip seal by pilot bearing and the rear main seal. Clutch is like new.

What clutch brake? There isn't one. I've never used an alignment tool on one, my alignment kit isn't large enough. Usually just snug the pressure plate up just enough that the disc can be moved around with a line up punch but does not drop and eyeball center, then torque down the pressure plate.

I think there was one on later models but Ive never seen one on the early ones, as you said. Some place I saw a bulletin on how to
adjust it. I believe it was off to the lower left in the clutch housing when sitting on the seat.

When I have been without a clutch alignment tool, I've used a deep socket on an extension to pick-up the minor diameter of the clutch disc spline and the pilot bushing. Use the biggest one that will go into the pilot bushing.

You can tighten up the fit by wrapping a couple layers of electrical tape around the socket. Especially, in the area of the clutch plate splines.

It is not perfect, but it helps.
