PTO Speed on a BG

I have a BF, which is closely related to the BG. My owner's manual for the BF says 559 RPM no load. In others words, the standard 540.

Thanks for the reply's guys.

Next question is. Say I get a snowblower
and tiller for a modern compact tractor
(Kubota, new Holland etc...) Something In
The 25HP category would it work on the BG?

Thanks!

hat is an interesting question. The correct answer will depend on the recommended ground speed of the equipment being contemplated.

My concern is the fact that the BG has no live PTO, and only has three working gears. The slowest of those is 1st gear which yields a ground speed of about 2.4 MPH at rated PTO speed.

That works well with equipment that is designed to work at that speed, such as a belly lawn mower or a sickle mower.

What are the manufacturer's recommended ground speeds of the blower and tiller? Were they geared to run with a tractor only going 1 MPH, or can they be expected to work well at 2.5 MPH?

Ronnie: You make an interesting analysis of this question. I don't know that any manufacture makes any recommendations for these two types of machines. For a tiller, How hard is the ground, what type of soil?? For a snowblower, how wet is the snow and how deep? And a snowblower would be used in reverse gear. I am sure a BG would handle it as far as power. But you make a very good point with out live PTO it would be a pain in the neck to use those two types of machines. If the fellow lives in town and has a normal drive way and doesn't get any 3ft drifts it would probably not be a big problem. But to have to stop shift out of gear clear out the machine, shift back in gear and proceed would be aggravating. However all said and done better than a scoop shovel!
