Changing starter from 6 to 12v

I have change a couple tractors to 12 volt. Never did anything to the starter. Unless you crank it for a long time, the starter will be fine as is.

No need to change anything!!!! 6V starters have heavier winding's than 12V. Been running 12V in 6V starters for 50 years. Don't remember ever replacing one. Any shop that tells you that you need to is just trying to get in your pocket book.

Agreed, but mine are bad. I have an old starter that I am rebuilding and the insulation is burned off one set of the fields. I just want to replace.

I can re-insulate the field coils , email should be open.
