Minneapolis Moline BF Brake Help

Have a 1953 MM BF left brake has a lot of pedal movement but no brake. Looking for some help on where to start looking for issue. Does the BF have disc or band brakes? Are there access plates I can remove to diagnose the issue? Any help appreciated.

I have never replaced mine. If I needed parts, I would call Welter's Farm Supply 417-498-6496 Verona Missouri, or Bill Williams 662-728-3747 Baldwyn MS.

Welters is a very good MM supplier and might have them. Bill Williams specializes in BF Avery and Minneapolis Moline BF.

Thank you for the information. First time
working on MM brand. My dad had several
different brands trying to get them
going.

They are external shoes. Meaning there are 2 lined shoes that work on the outside of a 'drum'. I had a brake and clutch shop re-line the
ones on my Mom's BG. (Right side housing identical to both sides of a BF). I did have to get a shoe or a pair of shoes from Bill Williams,
Baldwyn MS. I don't have his phone number handy.

The brakes are inside the cover plates (both top and bottom cover plates) on each final drive housing.

Thanks for the info. I'll get the plates off and see what I need in a few days. Contact info for William's and Welter in another post in this thread if you need it.
