M5 diesel starter

Hello all.

I have a 1960 diesel m5 where the starter died. Its one of the old bendix operated where you push a knob with your foot and the rod depresses the starter switch right on starter.
Its a delco remy 1113620.
Delcos website says its obselete. Parts suppliers say no new ones in north america.
The armeture broke 2 or 3 of its big wire bars and shredded some of the windings.
We cant seem to get a replacememt- many auto electric and starter shops ive called cant get the parts to rebuild them even.
Has anybody ever crossed this over to another style with a seleniod, or made one work from another tractor?
Thanks

Starter common on U diesel,M602,M670 as well as M5 and 5 star.. Should have one. Not sure if they make a gear reduced one.

Problem is, in Canada the molines are hard to come by, especially one with a working starter that somebody is willing to let go.
At an auto shop getting old one measured up to go to something more common

No problem getting any part here in Canada. Have probably dozen of those starters.
