MM RTU oversized pistons

Unless something has changed, there are not any companies making oversized pistons for R's. May find something used or new old stock, but pickings are slim. R's used a domed piston. ZA/ZT used a flat top piston which is readily available.

If you use flat top pistons, you'll need a LP head to make enough compression to run, I've had a couple of Rs that way

Ok. Thanks! It turns out someone put flat top pistons in it already so I assume it has an LP head as well or it probably wouldn't have ran.

Both LP heads have 2 freeze plugs whereas the other heads have 1. The casting #s are 10A46??, the others are RE 226?

My neighbor had a 1948 RTU with slant top pistons. I called Welters about buying replacement pistons. They told me it would have to be bored out 0.060" and pistons for a Star
Series tractor used. I don't remember what model tractor pistons they were going to sell me.

From what I have heard this isn't an option since it is a blind cylinder. If I could that would be great.

@TessmanTractors The block has been bored to 3.75" to accept flat top pistons so I don't think yours would work unfortunately. Unless I could sleeve the block. But from what I have heard I can't since it is a blind cylinder. Thank you.
