Planting spacing for MM P3 grain drill

I have another foolish question about this old MM P3-7 grain drill. The planting spacing is 7 inches but they do have a chart on the top cover which shows planting rates for crops such as beans in 28" rows (meaning every forth row). So how do you do that? Block the holes where the grain drops down for the rows you don't want? Thanks

When we used our drill for beans, Dad cut pieces of a rubber mat approx four or six inches square to lay over the seed outlets inside the hopper. Plastic magnetized sign might work.
In regards to setting, don't rely too heavily on the chart numbers. It it is a place to start. But especially on an old drill there is a lot of play in the linkage, and you need to compensate for it, each side will be different. Start by filling the drill level full Make a round in a large field, two or three in a small field. Then measure the amount of seed it takes to fill the hopper again and determine how much ground you covered. You can adjust accordingly.

Thanks to both of the responses for your feedback. Most helpful

My dad had some 1/8 inch paneling he used to cover the holes. Now days duct tape would work also.
