Repair Manual

Looking to order a repair manual for my Za, what is the difference between the dealers shop manual and the factory repair manual? Should I buy both?

Not entirely sure about this, because my books are out on the shop, but I believe "repair manual" or "repair catalog" (one of those 2) is Moline's name for the parts book. So if you have a chance to get both, it might not be a bad idea.

I agree get both, the service manual is good for procedures and the parts manual has illustrated break downs of about everything.

The Dealers Shop Manual IS the factory repair manual and is marked S-147. The commercially produced I & T Shop Manual MM-2A will probably cover repair procedure needs well enough and will be cheaper to acquire. S-144 is the Operation & Maintenance Manual (owners manual) and
covers all years of ZA tractors. Repair Catalogs are parts books and six different ones were published for the five years of production: R-1072, R-1072A, R-1072B, R-1072C, R-1072D and R-1127A. Year-to-year changes are reflected in each one.

Repair Catalog R-1072B was printed 1/1950. Knowing the serial# would pin it down better as 5 3/4" headlights and Flote-Ride seat were intro'ed later in the 1950 model run.

The best and I believe --cheapest source (and most accurate source -- since they have the originals --- is the repository for ALL THINGS MM and Oliver and some Cockshutt manuals is the FLOYD COUNTY MUSEUM in Charles City, Iowa. The person to talk to is Mary Ann and the museum number is 641-228-1099. Give them a call and they can gtet the right manuals to you. Good luck.
