Is it okay to use GL-5 gear oil in the ZAS?
 
I have seen several people say that GL-5 can be harmful to brass bushings. And I think the differential pinions turn on brass bushings.

I am thinking you should use GL1. I would stick with 140 GL1 or 90w140 GL1 if you can find it.
 
Yes, original was 140w. Manual stated to thin it out with kerosene for winter use, then drain and refill for summer.
