If it has twist type rad cap it is a 1951 or 2. 49-50 had the bail type. In 1953 they became the ZB.

Thank you! It's great to have it narrowed down. With close exam, I can see some of the #'s on the engine ID tag. Are engine numbers known by year?

Have motor numbers. I can match to any Z year.

Thanks for helping! I went out with a bright light today and having a hard time seeing the numbers. I'm thinking of enhancing the plate by spraying some clear gloss on it....thinking it will bring out the numbers. Are there certain beginning numbers for, say a 51 vs. a 52? Also, how many numbers are there, so I can try to figure out the beginning/ending points....also are there any letters or spaces?

Post what you have on here. It depends on how complete your number is. The year info is out there, BMG for one has a copy. Someone on here may be able to help you.
