160 degree thermostat

Everything seems normal wo thermostats engine temp and radiator. water seem consistant..I put 2 new thermostats in hot water did not open till 200

Sounds like not circulating. Check temp of top and bottom rad hoses. If top hot and bottom cold, rad. How long does it take to overheat?

you have other problems. those tractors darn near need the rad covered in summer time. they are very cool running till working. rad cores must be plugged. have you checked to make sure the water pump is pumping?

yes, but it may be enough flow without them to just keep it cool. plus... are you installing the therm's correctly and not upside down??

the spring goes towards the engine or down. I have seen this before with them upside down and wonder why its heating.

Won't reach operating temp in 10 minutes at idle. Should not even come off cold. Cool day like here today wouldn't move needle. Any mods been done to temp gauge or where it connects? Put thermostat in boiling water on stove and see if it opens. Should have a bypass hole also.

195 was most common for diesels. 180 too cold. Diesels need to run warm to be efficient. Others a gas thermostat. Our 97 or M5 would be right on half on a warm day and being worked. If went over the 1/2 was indication something was wrong. That was with all MM parts
