Somewhere I thought I read where there is a hydraulic block that will allow MM hydraulics to use a normal hydraulic cylinder.

If I'm correct would someone be more specific with a manufacture part number and possibly a retailer. Thanks.

I am thinking some of the JD cylinders had locks also.

Just put a simple hydraulic check valve on the line that holds the cylinder in the up position. You only need the one. It cost about $20 at my local hydraulic shop. I have it on my MMG. Makes any non MM cylinder work like it should.

The Uni-matic systems that were used on MM models up until 1958 needed an MM cylinder with the lock out feature. Starting with the 335 and 445 models in 1956 on up with the new hydraulic system you could use any brand of cylinder.

One of mine has had the one way valve switched put for a regular two way open center valve. That works good.

All I have ran on the 5 star I have has been just plain ole cross or prince tiebolt cyl in 3 1/2 or 4 inch. Have had no problems other than settling from worn hyd componuts.

Not sure when MM changed from locking to non-locking but the Star series I drove did not use the locking cylinders of the early letter series. As far as I know you have to have an MM locking cylinder to work on the early letter series. I am not aware of any others that will work.
