Adding to the herd

I hauled this home today, a 1939 "R". Runs pretty good for an 80 year old tractor. Even has brakes!

Looks good! Looks like someone has already done some work to it...

What are you going to have to do to have it like you want it?

yes, a lot of work has been done with it. It had been sitting for years and the engine got stuck and tires rotted. Previous owner fixed all that, developed health problems and decided to thin his herd, and besides it was just down the road from me. Needs TLC. (Muffler,, air hose, wiring, has wrong seat, gas tank leak, gauges, fenders, small stuff.) I just want to get it to run good when I want to operate it . Now I have a mate to my 1939 RTS.

I will have to do some research, it was an option in later years, don't know for the first years. I have old "R" books (the small ones) , I"ll find them. My RTS has fenders, but the bracing looks homemade.

R's had at least three platforms. My 39 has a full one piece for cab. My 40 Rtn is also one piece but edges are curved. Later one have the 3 piece. Your 39 RTS is a tough one too find. Did it come from NE Ia?
