I've got my UTU distributor housing cleaned up and installed my new bushing. I'm thinking about buying another distributor bushing and cutting it down for the lower housing. Onto my main question, I measured the inside diameter of the distributor bushing and it came in at .0484" and measured the outside diameter of the distributor shaft and it came out to be .0488". This got me thinking when I go to ream the bushing what clearance should I be going for between the shaft and the bushing? Is there a certain amount I should be shimming the shaft up and down? with what endplay clearance there? I know a manual on the distributor would solve this problem. I reached out to Delco Remy and they have no information on their distributors at all.
