5 Star hydraulics

Am looking at a 5star for purchase. Required adding a gallon or so of ATF to make the 3 point operate. There is an obvious oily to the touch all the way down the rear of tractor. After the fluid was added there was no apparent external leak. There are no remote connections on the system. Is this a possible inherent issue, or could this be a more serious problem. Thanks for any insight.

Oil pump seal could be leaking into rear ended or power steering piston could be leaking into front bluster.

Power steering leak will eventually cause oil to leak out around steering shaft.

Check tranny fluid level. If high, hydraulic fluid is likely leaking from pump.

I guess i didnt notice that the power steering operates from that same pump. Thanks for your reply.

If it has outlets for implement could be them, or implement that was attached leaked and reservoir never topped off.
