got this engine, was wondering what tractor it would be from.it says model 336 4A on the tag.

M5 and M series.

Older series 336 crankcase. Would be correct for 5 Star, M5, M602, and M670 non super. Heads and bore size would make it correct for M5 or M602.

Not a 5 Star crankcase. They used 283 gas. 336 was diesel.

so is this the same heads the U has and will the manifold fit a model U ?

All heads will interchange as well as manifold. Manifold may have to be trimmed a bit. Have a 336 lp manifold on a 1947 UTS with solid block.
