Jet Star 3 cam

I'm looking at a 69 (I Believe) Jet Star 3 gas with a broken camshaft. Are new parts available and how big a job is it to change the cam and oil pump? thanks,
 
Those parts are changed while sitting your shop stool, don't even have to get much used oil in you eyes! Curious though, why is cam broke? We would have any and all the parts you may need, River Dale Farms, call 920 295 3278 for any questions.
 
I would want to know more on why it broke and see what damage was done before I went any further. IE. block damage.
 
Thanks for the quick reply. The story that comes with the tractor is that somebody did something to make it run faster than it should which snapped the cam. I have no idea what then did to it. I'll call you about the parts when I get a chance, Thanks,
 
Whole 206 series gas or diesel used same cam. 10A6033. Have seen several cams broken.
Usually bad governor. Check #2 rod and skirt on block.
 
I've seen them with a broken cam also. Usually when the rod goes flying, it smashes the cam on its way out the side of the engine. Guessing there is more damaged than just the cam. Usually one jug, rod, crank, and crankcase get damaged. At least that is usually my luck.
 
Believe it or not, this one snapped off at the gear that mates to the distributor. The gear dropped, the engine stopped and it does not appear to have any other damage. I'm going back for another look but I'm pretty sure this one is coming home with me.
 
Ken I have rebuilt a few of them not to hard to do. After surveying damage you could look at just getting a complete engine and come out ok. The good news is most parts are available to overhaul it. If you do not know much about them you will soon see they are a very good tractor. 445 4 star and some 302 parts can be used. Now gill the guy on the TORQUE AMP as that is a week point. Which means pull engine do clutch and torque amp.
