OK, I guess someone needs to explain serial numbers for a U to me. Tractor data shows 6 serial numbers, Minnieapolis moline.com shows 12 numbers. my tractor has 8 numbers on the id tag. I have compared my numbers to tractordata @ MM.com and find no consistency. What Am I doing wrong? Signed confused!!

Are you using the numbers off the correct tag? MMs had a tag for both the engine and the tractor, and those numbers don't match each other.

It would help if you post the numbers you have.

I am thinking that the tractor tag is between the throttle and the belt pulley (or belt pulley 'delete' cover, if no belt pulley.) on the right side of the transmission case.

The numbers I have (01213846) are located on the transmission housing on the right side fo the tractor. Thanks

1955 UTS by this list. http://jetstar.minneapolis-moline.com/mm-tc_serials.txt. Moline serial numbers varied length by model. So a designated UTU had a 6 digit number, earlier UTS was 10 digits, later UTS was 8. Pretty sure there was no rhyme or reason as to why. The first 3 digits for a Moline serial number I believe indicate model for the most part. So match that up in a list, then go from there.

UTS Yours would be 1955
