I am working on a total restoration of a 1937 ZTU. The gear shift lever was stuck pretty good. After removing the transmission cover, lots of penetrating oil and a little work, I got it freed up but the shift lever is really sloppy in the transmission cover. In fact The lever will move up and down about 1/8". I mean really sloppy. I know there are no bearings or even bushings supporting the lever. The shift lever on my 46 Z fits just fine (By the way, seen in Antique Power Jan/Feb 2018). I don't know yet whether the cast cover or the shift lever is worn, maybe both. Does anyone have a suggestion as to a solution?
