Well I found out it is the new water pump that is the problem. I took the cover off and the impeller fell out. I didn't think they would be just pressed on the shaft. I'm gonna put the old one back on and see what happens. It didn't leak- there was another reason I replaced it. And yes I put the pump on correctly. I just don't understand how that impeller would come off.

Yeah, those sorts of unexpected things are the hardest to figure out!! As I mentioned the other day, I had that same thing happen on a big industrial Ford engine one time and about drove me up the wall till I finally found the problem.

Glad you got it sorted out!!

Yeah, I should have opened it up in the first place, but I really haven't had a lot of problems with new parts so I was just to stubborn to do so. It's a good running tractor and it'll be nice to be able to use it.

Most water pumps on most brands are just pressed together. Either the impeller or bearing were out of tolerance and the assembler did not notice it. Deere tried plastic impellers on utility tractors for a while but had problems with the plastic spinning on the sleeve it was molded to. Same result as you have. I would return it as warranty as it was obviously not right from the start.

Yeah, the old pump is back on and it's all working perfectly. I only replaced it because I thought it would be easy since it was all apart up front and the pump was old and hadn't run in years- that's what I get for trying to think ahead. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I'm gonna try and return it but I bought it online and I don't if it will happen. I contacted them yesterday so I'll see what happens.
