RTU disc brake specs?

I'm fixing the brakes on my 1949 RTU. I'm looking into relining the discs and need to know what the thickness should be. I had planned to get a quote from someplace local to do the work.

Other than being soaked in oil they don't look too bad, although the ajustors were all the way in so I don't really know if they are that wore or not.

Check with Charlie Biler at external_link.com. I bet he has those linings in stock. And if he doesn't, he can tell you what thickness they should be.

Some Automotive machine shops still have the rivet press to put those linings on. You can save some time (and $) by drilling or punching out the old rivets.

If Charlie can't help, Call Wendell Everett 740-922-3335. He's not there all the time, so keep trying until you get him.

We had ours relined. $207, including shipping. It fits in the flat rate box.

That was the only place we could find that would do it.

Update on this.

I ended up just soaking the discs in gas overnight and then baking in the gas grille for about an hour keeping the disc temp under 400 degrees. Worked perfect. It bubbled out the embedded oil and burnt it off. I washed them one more time with brake cleaner before I put them in. The lining was still pretty thick and should last the rest of it's duty.

I also had a couple broken springs. Found another post here for a guy on ebay with springs, but he couldn't tell me if they would fit. I bought them anyway. They worked perfect also.
Plowboy Equipment is his online store.
He lists them as fitting: Replaces part # 10P132.
