MM 670 Super steering

What is the most common failure when the steering gets difficult (hard to turn either way). When the front end is off the ground, it turns easily. And what is the correct fluid to use?

I believe Type A is what the manual says. Thrust bearings at the ends of the spindle can cause tightness. The weight of the tractor wouldnt be on them when the front is raised, assuming it is a wide front. Not sure what to tell you...

Pump may be getting bad, there is a pump off a 2 ton chevy truck that can be used in place of the MM pump, but I don't remember the part number. I think it is off a mid 70's truck and available at a Napa parts store for around 90 dollars. We usually run type F auto trans fluid, but I would guess you could run other light type of oil. We have never had problems with the steering motor itself, but I have heard of people having trouble with them, but I would think it wouldn't steer with no load if that were the problem.

Thank you for the information. I have kept the spindles greased so I don't think it is them, but I will check them anyway.
