OD Green Minn. Moline 445/Big Mo?

Anyone one ever see a MM 445 or Big Mo painted Olive Drab? I came across a side panel over the weekend that was clearly painted OD green early in it life. It appears the the panel was made with the holes for the emblems originally but the holes were welded over. Too bad that was all that remained of what ever it was. I'll try to post pictures at some point.

Hey Keith - Paul here. Thanks for getting the side panels to Dennis. I will be restoring the Big Mo 400 (M) this spring. I would really be interested in seeing or getting that panel. Did the side panels you sold me have a brass plate on it?

I spoke with an United States Air Force Historian and he said that USAF tractors were painted OD Green or Strata Blue depending on where and what Unit they were deployed to. Mainly areas in the Pacific Theatre or units that had Operation Responsibility in the Pacific Theatre were OD Green or Strata Blue. Sometimes Commanders in the different Theatres had "creative liscening" with colors. From what I understand Europen Theatres usually had "local tractors" - had something to do with the "Status of Forces" agreements signed with European Allies.

I bought the panel and it is now sitting in my shop. If I were to guess, it would be from a MM 445 because it is not cut out for the round tank like the Big Mo militaries. But that is just a guess since I found it just lying on the ground with no other parts of the tractor around. I posted a couple of photos on the other MM site.

I believe the panels I sold you had holes for the brass plate but it was no longer on the panel. I could be miss taken because I had two sets of that sheet metal at one time and I know I took the plate off of one set of side panels before using them on a 445. I still have the plate I removed if you need a template.
