Minne UTS puller

Hey All! I just joined up today and wanted to say hi! Looks like a good site.

I have a 1949 UTS that belonged to my Grandfather and his Brother.

I freshened up the heads (bad cracks and seats) and got it running. Unfortunately the governor gear failed and took out the camshaft gear.

I need to find some parts.

Are 283 pistons available? are there some performance options?

Are cams available? I haven't got mine out yet but it looks chipped.

I would like to pull in the local stock class. I don't think there are any Minne's pulling. Lots of Green and Yellow paint strutting around - I need to tip the scales a little!

Thanks!

Chris.

This is an excellant site to check out daily. As far as your first few generic questions, they are asked often and answered most of the time. My best suggestion would be to spend the time and look back in previous posts to find your answers, and then check at least once every couple of days to stay current on what people are talking about. That will keep you in real good shape. Welcome aboard!

if you gonna pull the crank out you can change it with a crank out a 403 and gain a inch of stroke and get the rods out of it and i have a set of 403 juggs and pistons i would sell to make your 283 into a 403. that would make it a 4 5/8 bore instead of the 4 1/4 bore.

green and yellow paint ,ought to be some easy picking ,a moline should walk all over them ,put 403 parts in it , their is no replacement for displacement

Since it is your first Moline, the way I understand it, there are a lot of parts that interchange on different cubic inch engines. Just to help you out a little bit. The cam shaft on the 283 CI and the 403 CI are the same number and will interchange. There are a lot of other things that may be a little different in dimentions but will bolt right on and work just fine. No one will ever know besides you unless you tell them or they are familiar with Molines and know what they are looking for....JB
