M670 engine problems

I am baffeled as to what my 670 is doing. About a month ago I was using it in the field when it started to have a lack of power, I drove it to the shop shut it off for about an hour and came back to it. The only way I could get it to start it to turn the propane on shut it off and then crank it over and when it fired turn the propane back on quickly. For some reason propane vapors are also coming out of the air cleaner and you can also hear it going strait thru the regulator. It will not idle or run smooth and the governor acts like the engine is under a load, the only time it may run smooth is when it is wide open and this is inconsitent.

I have checked for a dead cylinder, tried liquid and vapor at various engine temps, held the butterfly on the carb still with mixed results (somtimes it smooths out sometimes not), played with idle mixture on the regulator which made no difference, and have yet to pin-point what my problem is. I do believe that it is a regulator/vaporizer, carb, problem but am unsure what to tackle so if anyone has any suggestions that would be great.

Not the vaporizer tried a good extra and made absolutely no difference, I have a feeling the diaphram in the regulator blew out, will have to give motec a call if there is no more suggestions.

In my opinion Vaporizer and Regulator are two names for the same item. If it is an Ensign you may be out of luck as parts are about as scarce as hen's teeth. There is supposed to be one man in Oklahoma that had some rubber parts made. I have his address somewhere. One problem is to change types of Vaporizers you have to change the carb. also as Ensign has the Idle adj. on the Vaporizer while Cemtury and Impco don't.

What type of carb.,vaporizer do you have? When say vapor out of air cleaner do you mean out of top pre cleaner?
