Lifter ideas?

Anyone have any ideas on how to pull the lifters up high enough to pull the cam out without having to take off the heads?

This is on a G 707 that the PO thought he would try and start during the winter when he knew it has a little water in the oil from a bad head gasket...which resulted in two teeth broke on the cam and a bent shaft on the oil pump. He replaced the head gasket before I bought it but hadn't replaced the oil pump or cam. Trying to get it back into running shape as cheaply as possible.

New cam + old lifters = new cam failure in a few hours. Bite the bullet and install new lifters with the new cam. If it was run and has set with water in the oil the bearings will most likely be in need of replacing also.

Take some wire make a large hook on it. Push the hook into lifter you should feel it snap into the oil hole in lifter. Lift lifter till it is snug aginst block. Then wrap wire around rocker stud. Repeate on all lifters. We found this to work on most all tractors. Good Luck.

If he wants to do something with the lifters he can. He just does not want to have to pull the heads and jugs off.

Thanks everyone...I'm using a used cam so I shouldn't need new lifters as long as they dont have too much of a wear pattern I wouldn't think. Hope to get her running soon but spring break is about over and then its back to school.
