WEll, a while a go, someone on here objected to my painting individual parts and the bolting them togtether with new unpainted bolts. He said it was not natural, or something like that.

I had to repaint due to the original paint being weak and not the correct MM PG #2 paint color.

Here is the repainted chassis with all those nasty unpainted bolt heads painted. I kinda like it too.

Good eye.

The serial number on the transmission: 324350S (UT made in 1945)
The engine serial number: KEF 557107F
I believe it was converted to a UTU by the previous owner.

Original condition as I found it in ID

A question about MM paint. I remember the 1944 molines as being industrial yellow like your before picture. The PG 2 appears more orange. Could it be that molines during the war years were painted industrial yellow?

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the comment.

Originally I used Midwest paint LIC 30 Urethane Enamel, PG #2. I Believe that is Valispar paint. The finished color was too light, and the paint appeared to be transparent due to the paint being weak on pigment. Even after three coats, I could see primer under the paint.

I over-painted with NAPA Cross/FIRE Alkyd Enamel Paint, mix code #3749 (51-A). I used a mix of 8 parts paint, one part standard hardener, and one part medium reducer. I applied three coats to be sure I had the original paint covered.

The sheet metal will be painted with NAPA Cross/FIRE Urethane Enamel, of the same paint code. Wish me luck with that.

From NAPA in Cross/FIRE you can get Alkyd, Acrylic, or Urethane Enamel. My preference is Urethane Enamel.
