Help with Model Identity

200 series for sure but not exactly sure of the model. I thought a smaller model but it has a square rear axle. Never seen the 3 shifters before. I thought the rounded fenders were only on the smaller models but I could be wrong. What engine and how many cylinders does it have? That will help to narrow it down. Dave

Maybe it was originally a yellow industrial model? MF20 variant or maybe an early 30B. I thought the square rear axle was only on the next larger size of tractor. Maybe it's made from more than one tractor model? Interesting for sure but it's got a great engine. Dave

Just thought of something. Could it have been a turf model? and the third shifter is like an overdrive for faster transport speed? It has a foot throttle and looks to be missing some of the brake locking mechanism. Dave

North American built(no hand brake). If 3cyl 30B or 245 Orchard if 4cyl 40B thats a manual shuttle trans and it has the HD industrial front axle, square rear axle with wet brakes(notches)The AG loader must have been added later Note the front hydraulic pump. I think all North American 20's had drum brakes and lighter rear axles

Starting to lean towards the AG MF245 Orchard Special as it has an auxilary hydraulic pump. Maybe the line is just looped to go back into the trans case . I couldn't see any aux remotes or control valves (Industrials wouldn't have this setup and most would have the Industrial loader instead of the detachable AG loader)This one sure looks like it has the front pump but usually they draw oil from the loader frame like the Industrial models. Wonder what happens to the lines if you take the loader off(they would have to be looped Is it gas or diesel? Need more pictures of the loader hydraulics!

I thought I recognized my MF-236 loader. Knowing that's the loader won't tie down the tractor much, because it fit from a 135 (but it was too big a loader for the 135) to a 274 FWA.

The MF-236 could be run from the tractor pump, a PTO pump, or a front pump. The front pump was the best for me, but I moved it from my MF-135 to my JD 4020 that has more than sufficient internal pump (22gpm).

With labels on the loader and ROPS there ought to be a tag on the tractor, maybe on the cowl about knee high or on the back of the final drive..

Gerald, there is a tag on the tractor but it only provides patent dates and the Serial Number posted above.

Any chance this is a 230? Except for the tranny it sure looks close. Then is there no way to tell from the Serial?

(quoted from post at 10:04:31 06/23/08) 3rd shifter is a mystery to me too. Serial # indicates 1976 (mid year production) 245.

MF Poor, what is your source for the Serial number identification?

Thank you.

Since the square axle seems to be the best clue I'm posting the part numbers off the casting.

1862 966 M1
1861 655 M1

Thanks

Its a MF245 Orchard Special they had the rear axle with wet disc brakes from the 255,265,275 and a front axle and hydrostatic steering from the Industrial 30b and 40b it also has the manual shuttle transmission that many of the 30b and 40b tractors had. this would be a great machine in the 40hp range parts a easily available lots of aftermarket (A&I) are available.
