MF 165 shift pattern.

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could give me some information about a MF 165. Acquired it with no knowledge as to what the shift patterns are as well as what the switches are. If someone could give me some information or could email me a copy of a service or operators manual it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
 
I no longer have a 165 manual but you will first
need to post if it is a 6 sp/6sp multi power or
is it an 8 speed. The later ones were 8 speed if
not equipped with multi power. Chuck
 
It is the later style, not sure on year but the lights are on the fenders not on the grill. It is not a multipower either.

Also on the range shifter, is it Low closest to the dash, neutral, and high towards the seat? Thanks
 
Your shifter knob shows the right shift pattern. SOME earlier model 150's had an 8-speed that had 3rd and 4th swapped, but later models were same as the knob you show. (Not sure if any early 165's had the 3/4 reversed or not) You've got H-n-L correct too.
 
Your view of the hi-low(range finder)is correct.
Early 165 tractors could also have flat top
fenders-optional. The knob appears to be correct,
I found literature,product books,and an older
owners man. but none show the knob up close. Try
shifting according to that. You can tell the order of the forward motion. Chuck
 
What about the range lever? Is it low pushed forward and high pulled backwards? Also do you need to clutch to switch between ranges?
 
I have an early 70's mf175 without Multipower. The tranny is 3 speed, identical to the pattern shown without 4th gear, if that helps.
 

I saw a 165 (didn't get serial number) a couple weeks ago that had 4th and 3rd swapped according to the shift knob. It had flat top fenders with lights
