Could someone please help guide me through this ignition wiring. I am replacing the current ignition switch that does not have the "Cold Start" feature on it. I have ordered and received the new Ign switch that does have the cold start. It looks like the wiring colors are not the original according to the manual.

The old switch is marked with the Bat, Ign, ACC and Start but only two wires are hooked up to the old switch.

The new switch has the terminals marked as #1, #2 and #3 as seen in the pic. There is a Dbl pole lug at the No#1 terminal on the new switch. Which wires go where on the new switch? Im trying NOT to short anything out and wanted to reach out for help before I attempted this

The current wiring on the old switch has a
Red wire going to the Top of the Voltage regulator behind the battery

Green wire from Ign switch to the starter

There is a black wire coming from the Top of voltage reg that is hooked to nothing

Yellow wire from the Top of Voltage regulator to the generator

Black wire from the bottom of the Voltage regulator to the Gen

Red wire from the Ammeter to the top Voltage regulator.

There are also a black and a white wire hooked to some type of switch on top of the tranny that have been cut off and are hooked to nothing. Im almost positive this is for a neutral safety switch. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again!

Yes I do want to put the cold start feature back on it. I have already installed the heater coil on the intake manifold. It had an old coil in there when I bought the tractor but the wire was not run from the ignition to the coil. The old Ign switch did not have the cold start feature but the new one does. I would like to get the neutral safety switch working as well. I see the switch mounted on top of the casing with 2 cut wires so im just assuming that is the neutral switch. But yea, I am trying to get everything back to an "As designed condition" if possible.
Another question: it did not have a battery, I have since put a battery in but after i got to looking at it, there is a Red Bat cable on the left side of the battery box going to ground, then the black Bat cable going to the Gen. UUUmmm in my world, Red means Hot and Black is ground. Should the ground side of the battery be hooked to the Red cable that goes to ground and the Black cable go from the Pos side of the Bat to the Gen? I need to make sure thats correct before I start plugging in wires :D Thanks a ton for the help

If you have not figured it out yet here is how you switch compares to JDs diagram. The double post 1 terminal on your switch is 1/2 on his diagram, the 3 terminal on your switch is 3 on his diagram, number 2 on your switch is 4 on his diagram. His diagram shows where the neutral switch should connect in. For the battery it was originally a positive ground setup or positive or plus battery terminal connecting to the chassis. The diagram I referenced used two 6 volt batteries in a series to provide 12 volts, see picture lower diagram. However, if by chance it is set up with an alternator instead of the original generator then it most likely has to be connected negative ground. Third Party Image

Best I can tell is your green wire goes to terminal 1 and the other to terminal 3. Unless the diagram I am looking at is showing the face of the original plug. The diagram I am looking at is for an older model with no neutral safety switch.

I would surmise if you had a ..cold start.. unit on the tractor and wanted to connect it you would have mentioned that. If the connections I suggested are correct the ..cold start.. would hook to the other unused terminal. You also did not mention if you wanted to attempt to reconnect the neutral switch. Was or is this a running tractor or are you on resurrection mission?
